Another Sunday

I love the idea of Sunday's with you, I find them rather sad without you. The idea of going back to work tomorrow is unpleasant. I am trying to keep my broader goals in mind in order to get through it.

I am on call today which means I have to go in and check on things later, it's one of my least favorite tasks to perform. I resent having to give up my personal time for meaningless pursuits.

I'm doing my nails and will take my car out later. My kid introduced me to the alltrails app so I found a few new trails in the area I'll go check out this evening. The weather is supposed to be nice again, though now we're up to three days of rain in the forecast as opposed to just one. It will change again no doubt.

I am making cauliflower and kale soup today and the family recipe for broccoli salad. I find if I make ahead and pre-portion ahead, I have a much happier week all the way around. Our broccoli salad calls for bacon of course so yesterday, I was on a mission to find a covered container for cooking my bacon in the microwave to no avail.

I hate cooking bacon on the stove because I HATE getting splattered with the hot grease. (Not a pain slut...not into burns). I know you can do it in the oven but I feel like that is such a pain in the ass to clean and I can't believe it doesn't make a mess...same with the air fryer. So, I use the microwave. The gal at Bed, Bath, and Beyond had never even heard you could do that...but they didn't have anything mess-proof so, paper towels it will be.

I'd love to introduce you to our family recipes. They're not MY bio-family recipes of course...my parent's prefer boxes and bags, but my true family has a number of recipe's that are cherished...and I've even contributed a few over the years that everyone loves. Do you have some I'll need to learn? What did your mom make you that makes your heart melt when you smell it? What can bring a smile to your face in the form of home cooked food made with all my love?

I make a mean cheesecake from scratch.
